The short version
- This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking.
- We only hold personal details that you choose to send us through the contact form or by email.
- We use them to reply to you, and for nothing else. We do not sell them or add you to a mailing list.
- Messages sent through the form are deleted after 12 months.
Who we are
Front Step Digital is the trading name of Max Jones, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the information described here.

What we collect, and why
When you use the contact form
We collect your name, your email address, the message you write, and anything optional you add (your business name or website, what you need, and a rough budget). We use this to answer your enquiry and, if you ask for one, to prepare a quote.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: you have asked us a question and we need your details to answer it. If your enquiry turns into a project, the basis becomes contract.
To stop spam
When a form is sent we store a scrambled (hashed) version of the sender's internet address. It cannot be turned back into the address. It lets us limit how many messages one connection can send in an hour.
When you email us
We keep your email and our reply in our mailbox so that we have a record of what was agreed.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or pass on your details. A small number of companies process them for us, only so that the website and our email work:
- Cloudflare hosts this website and stores form messages in a database.
- Resend sends us an email alert when a form is submitted.
- Google Workspace provides our email.
Some of these companies are based outside the UK. Where information is transferred abroad, it is covered by the safeguards UK data protection law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long we keep it
- Form messages: deleted automatically 12 months after they are sent.
- Emails: kept for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry or project, then deleted.
- Client records, such as invoices: kept for as long as tax law requires, which is around 6 years.
Cookies
This website does not set cookies and does not store anything in your browser. There is no analytics and no advertising tracker. The fonts are served from this website, not from a third party.
Links to client websites and to other services take you to sites with their own privacy notices.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete it
- stop or limit how we use it
Email hello@frontstepdigital.com and we will respond within one month. There is no charge.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and the date at the top.
